Celebration of QuiltsOn Sunday, June 2, 2019 the Railroad House Museum hosted an open house for our Celebration of Quilts. The museum displayed four quilts that had been carefully stored for several years. Two of the quits were made to commemorate the nation's bicentennial in 1976: one made by Jonesboro Middle School students and staff and the other made by Girl Scout troops in Lee County. The third quilt was made to honor Lee County residents who lived to be the age of 100. The final quilt is composed of hand-pieced red-white-and-blue blocks. It was the first time our visitors were able to see these quilts on full display. The event was a huge success bringing in approximately 50 visitors in just three hours!
